There's been a few non-Damp;G/non-Pathfinder fantasy video games that possess arrive out in last few years and I'm the kind whose eager to gather them. So I'm curious to understand more about some óf them ánd why others think so extremely of them. I'meters trying to guide away from universal techniques (like as GURPS) and concentrate on those that are primarily grounded in being a fantasy game.
Here's a few I know of to get started. I own a few of these (thosé with a '.' béside them), but havén't really gotten to enjoy them very much. If folks could expound what the like from each, I'd value it.
CastIes amp; Crusadés.
0SRIC.
Labyrinth God.
Dragon Age.
13th Age group.
Conan RPG. (I believe there's i9000 also another Conanesque game out.Hyboria sométhing?)
Hackmaster, 4th release
Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) CIassics
Lamentations óf the Fire Little princess
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th edition delivers the goods, when it comes to creating the atmospheric, funny, tounge-in-cheek, but also suitably dark mood of this wonderful world. I especially like the quotes found in the player classes section. Apparently living in the Empire. There's the 'species' keyword, used instead of 'race'. GURPS High Elves. Of all the presentations of elves in any roleplaying game, perhaps my favorite is the High Elf in Rolemaster. However, my favorite roleplaying game at the moment is GURPS. So, in order to have the best of both worlds, I tasked myself to translate Rolemaster High Elves into GURPS.

Hi,
This is certainly a issue that I've been asking yourself about for the past few times, amp; I'g believed I'd bring it up amongst the varied crowd around here:
How do different sport systems (chemical20, GURPS, Warhammer FRP, Palladium, etc.) deal with the various 'regular' fantasy demi-humán races in théir video games?
Are dwarves usually the Tolkien-Iike cave-dwelling pséudo-Norse players across the board? Are all orcs a group of barbaric baddies that frequently endanger the Personal computers? Are all elves slim, human-sized, póinty-eared, magically-incIined forest dwellers? Are halflings taken care of as pseudo-Hóbbits or pseudo-Kénder? Are usually gnomes treated as a cóusin-race of thé dwarves or ás a form of planet much needed?
From whát little I understand, it does seem that dwarves, eIves, amp; orcs are usually relatively the same across numerous game systems (and in some instances, maintains extremely related subraces mainly because nicely, like the Large/Wood/Dark EIves, or the 'great' Dwarves amp; 'bad' Damage Dwarves sorta Iike Duergar in Warhammér FRP).
Also stylistic looks are maintained throughout numerous video games: IIRC, Everquest provides the common drow appearance (plane black skin, snow white tresses) for their darkish elves, whereas the fantasy realm in TORG used that drow look as the default look for their elves.
Just how perform the different game techniques deal with these requirements of fantasy?
